Products: How it WorksOperating PrinciplesAs unfiltered air enters the air handler and moves downstream towards the StrionAir System, airborne particles pass through an ionization field generated by the System’s ionization array. A negative voltage applied to this array creates an energized field at each precision point electrode. This energized field creates a whirlwind of collisions among gaseous atoms and molecules, producing an ion cloud. These ions lend their charge to the passing particles, causing the particles to assume an electric charge. Particles continue on towards the SecureSeal filter media, which is sandwiched between two electrodes. A negative voltage applied to the upstream electrode creates a continuous electrostatic field between them, and across the filter media. This electrostatic field polarizes the media’s fibers, creating a positive polarity surface along one section of fiber and a negative polarity surface along another. Just as this electrostatic field polarizes the filter media’s fibers, it also polarizes airborne particles as they enter the field. This enhances their attraction to the polarized filter fibers. Particles now attract to the site of opposite charge on the filter fibers, forming a tightly packed coating on all surfaces. Uniform loading along fiber surfaces delivers extended filter media life, long-term low pressure drop and enhanced dust holding capacity. |
